Apr 24 2013, – Speaking on the occasion Human Rights Observers Chairman Mr. Tameem said up to seven in ten women have experienced violence in their lifetime. It’s time to end this pandemic, with one commitment at a time to protect women against Sexual violence certain promising steps to be taken. There are many ways to make a life free of violence a reality for women and girls: from passing or improving laws; launching public awareness campaigns free hotline services and free legal aid to survivors; supporting education programmes that address gender stereotypes and violence; and increasing women in law enforcement, use the power of media to convey these important messages such as stopping child marriages, not giving dowry, making the public aware about the consequences of violence against women.

The bottom line is violence prevails because we allow it to. Speak up – break the silence. Every effort of ours counts, so let’s this rage of violence end once and for all.  The right to development is the measure of the respect of all other human rights.  That should be our aim: a situation in which all individuals are enabled to maximize their potential, and to contribute to the evolution of society as a whole.
