Message from the Chairman

Human  Rights  Observers  is  a  common  platform  of the various groups  and  individuals  committed to the cause of human rights in India. Our mission is to support the engagement of human rights defenders  with the UN and regional human rights systems. In  turn,  HRO  also  aims  to make  these  systems  more   effective,   more  accessible  to human   rights   defenders,   and   more   responsive  to  their concerns. We are passionate about  human rights.  Together, we   form  a  dedicated  team  of   professionals   working  to achieve a common vision and mission in which  we believe.

Integrity – We carry out our mandate in an independent and impartial way. Inclusiveness – We are responsive to the needs of human rights defenders irrespective of the rights they defend. Equality – We  believe  in the principle of the universality of human rights. As such, we are respectful of others, treating all with dignity and without discrimination.

United Nations Secretary General

Human rights are basic rights and freedoms that all people are entitled to regardless of nationality, sex, age, national or ethnic origin, race, religion, language, or other status. Human rights are conceived as universal and egalitarian, with all people having equal rights by virtue of being human.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon

BAN KI MOON

Human Rights in international practice, within international law, global and regional institutions, in the policies of states and the activities of non-governmental organisations has been a cornerstone of public policy around the world. It has been said that:”if the public discourse of peacetime global society can be said to have a common moral language, it is that of human rights.”

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
